#2 The Comforter

#2 The Comforter

My Friend,

In this journey of life with Jesus, you will have troubles, but you can make it because a great God loves you.

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You. For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:7-14

Because of the presence of sin in the world, storms and troubles will be a part of your life. God promises to be your captain and navigate you through the stormy waters. While you can’t control what storms you will face in life, you can choose to surrender control to the Captain who knows every storm you will face. God doesn’t cause the storms, but He knows how you should react to them.

You cannot choose the circumstances of life; you can only choose how you react to them.

My friend, God knows about the struggles in your life. He knows when you feel over your head in the messes of life. It is often in these moments that He is preparing to do something great in your life. God doesn’t dismiss the mess in your life because those often are the times when you are most likely to draw close to Him. In the presence of His strength, your weakness becomes insignificant. You aren’t expected to enjoy the messes in your life. They are there to show you that you aren’t meant to trudge through life on your own. When you turn to God’s loving, patient presence in the midst of the mess, you find a greater comfort than the world can offer.

The secret to having comfort in your life is not becoming comfortable, but being with the Comforter.

You may feel overwhelmed with the storms of life, but as you turn to God, He will make a way. Your life doesn’t have to be comfortable to experience God’s comfort. All you need is found in His presence. When you search for Him with all your heart, you will find Him and the peace that comes with His presence. His peace is waiting for you if you come to Him in your troubles.
